ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Miriam Flores and I am a Latina Graphic Designer and Photographer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. At a very young age, I was inspired to pursue art by my uncle’s hobbies of drawing and painting. Seeing his artwork sparked curiosity and gave me the courage to pick up a pencil and start drawing. Ever since, art has become an important part of my life. This past November of 2021, my uncle passed away and all my artwork to this day is dedicated to the memory of my Uncle Juan Manuel Cardenas Perez.

I am also passionate about representing my community and promoting social justice through my artwork and photography. Art has allowed me to capture moments of resistance and resilience that exist within marginalized communities. Art is also a powerful tool that has helped me express myself and how I understand the world around me. Creating art allows me to uplift the voices of those who are not often heard or seen. My artwork today explores contemporary issues, demonstrates resistance, humanizes the struggle, celebrates and uplifts the joy and strength of our communities, and exhibits and on going effort to explore and imagine art that encompasses and expresses social justice.
